Learn about how Loop’s new integration with Poshmark promotes sustainability in the fashion industry.

Not every purchase works out for every shopper, especially in the apparel industry.

In 2023, nearly a quarter of all apparel products ended up as a return. And in most cases, there was nothing wrong with the item, with only 10 percent of returns taking place due to product damage. The rest of the time, the item just wasn’t the right fit for that particular customer—but is likely perfect for someone else.

But what if the customer missed the window to return an unwanted, but perfectly good, piece of merchandise? That scenario is all too common, especially after the chaos of the holiday season. In fact, Poshmark, a leading resale marketplace for fashion, home decor, and other gently used or new products, saw a 50% increase in new listings that mentioned “missed return window” in the description between December 26th and 30th last year.

In these situations, and others—a final sale product, or an item with the tags removed—the shopper is usually out of luck. The unwanted item will sit languishing in their closet instead of finding a new home. Even worse, we’ve found that 57% of consumers have stopped purchasing from a particular retailer after one bad returns experience.

Now, you can empower your shoppers to extend the product lifecycle for their non-returnable products and deliver a better customer experience, thanks to Loop’s new partnership with Poshmark.

How it works

The new integration between Loop and Poshmark provides your customers with a seamless path to a secondary marketplace for their unwanted goods, so that they can easily list and sell their non-returnable items.

When shoppers visit your brand’s returns portal, they’ll see all of their return-eligible items—and for those that aren’t eligible (whether due to a missed return window, item wear, or a final sale), they’ll see the option to list the items directly on Poshmark. With a single click, they’ll be guided to a pre-filled item listing for the product on Poshmark, enabling them to showcase it to Poshmark’s audience of over 80 million registered users. They’ll be able to effortlessly shift from shopper to seller, setting their own price for the item to recoup value from their initial purchase. With each item they sell, your brand will collect a revenue share from Poshmark’s margin.

Why it matters

By removing friction from the resale process for customers, the Loop and Poshmark integration is making it easier than ever to commit to sustainability in the fashion industry. Rather than discard unwanted merchandise, shoppers are able to help their items find a second life, reducing environmental waste.

Footwear brand Rothy’s, a Loop customer, is thrilled by the new partnership.

"Now with our Poshmark and Loop integration, we're taking a step toward a truly circular fashion economy,” says Dayna Quanbeck, President at Rothy's. “By transforming non-returnable items into resale opportunities with just one click, we're empowering our customers to reduce waste and extend the life of their Rothy's. We're proud to be at the forefront of offering practical, sustainable solutions for today's shoppers."

"Loop's collaboration with Poshmark exemplifies the future of returns, where ease of use meets sustainability," adds Hannah Bravo, CEO of Loop. "Together, we're helping brands and consumers embrace resale as a simple, single-click experience, supporting a thriving circular economy while driving meaningful engagement and value for all."

By encouraging your shoppers to resell their unwanted items on Poshmark, you’ll be turning a negative experience for your customer into a positive: Rather than being denied a return, your shopper will have the chance to recoup their costs through the resale platform, helping them preserve a positive attitude towards your brand that will lead to higher customer loyalty rates.

The Poshmark integration also helps merchants increase brand awareness, promoting your products to more price-sensitive customers who might not have considered making a retail purchase, and extending your product lifecycle. And by collecting a revenue share on sales made through the Poshmark x Loop integration, you’ll further reduce loss typically associated with returns.

Getting started

Want to help set your shoppers up for success with reselling their unwanted products on Poshmark? Setting up the integration is easy: Simply click on the Poshmark integration button on the Integrations page in Loop Admin, and your shoppers will see the option to list their non-returnable items on Poshmark when they’re viewing their return options. Any time a shopper sells an item that’s linked from your returns portal, you’ll receive a commission on the sale in the form of Loop credits.

The Loop + Poshmark integration will help you reduce waste by promoting a circular economy, delight your shoppers, and support your business growth by decreasing loss and increasing brand awareness.
